DEADLINE: 30 SEPTEMBER 2024
The graduate Ellison scholarship fully funds DPhil (PhD) study at the University of Oxford. Graduate Ellison Scholars’ doctoral research will focus on an EIT project. Applicants must therefore demonstrate how well their research interests and choice of DPhil (PhD) course align with an ongoing EIT project. The applications for the 2025 graduate Ellison Scholars programme are now open; the application deadline is 30 September, 4pm (local time). The deadline for references is 14 October, 4pm (local time).
The graduate Scholars apply primarily to work on a specific project within one of the humane endeavours. Innovating shoulder-to-shoulder with world leading experts to solve real-world problems through technology as part of a fully-funded doctoral degree at one of the top universities in the world is what sets this scholarship programme apart.
The scholarship programme is looking to find outstandingly talented people who have the skills and abilities to contribute significantly to one of the ongoing projects. The projects would benefit from skills in computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics and statistics, robotics, plant sciences, machine learning, chemistry and chemical engineering, biology and molecular biology, engineering, physics / nuclear physics, medicine, and microbiology. This list is not exhaustive and any candidates with skillsets and ambitions aligned with EIT’s projects are welcome to apply.
Graduate Ellison scholarships will fund DPhil (PhD) study at the University of Oxford. For Graduate Ellison Scholars, their doctoral research will centre on an EIT project.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
Tuition fees for the Ellison Scholars’ chosen undergraduate or graduate degree at the University of Oxford will be paid in full by EIT. In addition, Ellison Scholars will receive an annual cost of living grant (paid monthly), which will significantly exceed the funds needed to cover:
Accommodation and food costs
Additional living costs for studies
The equivalent of paid internships for work on innovation projects
EIT will cover travel between a Scholar’s home and Oxford each year, any additional travel as needed for the programme, and provide initial set up funds, e.g. to purchase new technology needed for studies. The scholarship is funded by the generosity of Larry Ellison, Chief Technology Officer of Oracle and EIT Faculty Fellow.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants will be asked to provide evidence that they meet the entry requirements of their chosen DPhil (PhD) course at the University of Oxford. These entry requirements will likely include minimum undergraduate degree outcomes and English language requirements.
Graduate applicants with conditional scholarship awards will be invited to apply to the University of Oxford. The scholarship programme supports doctoral research within a DPhil (PhD) course that is centred on their chosen EIT project. Please note that applications submitted to the University of Oxford will follow the University’s separate and independent admissions process. The graduate Ellison Scholars will be announced by April 2025, ahead of starting their degrees at the University of Oxford in October 2025.
