ETH Zurich - 60 Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) for 2022
Deadline: 15 December 2021
The Excellence Scholarships give selected Master’s students the opportunity to focus fully on their studies and research – a highly persuasive argument in the international competition to attract the most talented students.
The funding, however, is not just an investment in talented individuals: the scholarship recipients have excellent prospects of holding key positions in business, science or politics, or founding their own companies, thereby letting their knowledge and skills flow back into society. The increasing number of students is also continually increasing the demand for Excellence Scholarships.
The programme is fully funded by donations. Around three-quarters of the foreign scholarship students remain in Switzerland after completing their degree. They work and pay taxes and insurance. This means that the CHF 48,000 invested in them flows back into society after an average of three years.
The Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) supports students with a scholarship, mentorship and a network of the ETH Foundation. The scholarship covers the full study and living costs during the Master’s degree course.
The Excellence Scholarship/ESOP consists of a scholarship covering living and study expenses (CHF 12'000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver.
ESOP is awarded for the regular duration of the Master’s programme (three or four semesters). This also applies for the tuition fee waiver.
For the start in the academic year 2022/23 there will be assigned approximately 60 ESOP scholarships. The applications are evaluated by the Admissions Committees of the respective Master’s programmes. The final decision for awarding scholarships in the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme rests with the Rector of ETH Zurich. The exact number of annual scholarships depends on the availability of funds. The decisions are communicated by end of March.
