2023 TAIWAN ICDF SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE: 15 MARCH 2023


The International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) is dedicated to boosting socio-economic development, enhancing human resources and promoting economic relations in a range of developing partner countries. The International Higher Education Scholarship Program was initiated in 1998 when we joined forces with a group of Taiwanese universities to offer scholarships for a number of English-language courses, up to and including Ph.D. level. The program enables talented young citizens to come to Taiwan to pursue their higher education and follow course materials and learning objectives that are specifically designed to address key development issues.


In 2023, there are 33 programs offered for TaiwanICDF Scholarship application. All programs are taught in English.



SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Entitlements: The total scholarship, including airfare (round-trip), housing, tuition, credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance will be provided by the TaiwanICDF to each student within his/her given award period. The scholarship is itemised as follows:


  1. Airfare: The TaiwanICDF shall arrange your most-direct flights to and from Taiwan with Economy Class tickets.

  2. Housing: All students must reside in the student dormitories.

  3. Tuition fee: The TaiwanICDF will cover the tuition fee as required by the student’s university.

  4. Credit fees: Credit fees vary with the number of credits registered. Credit fees will also be covered as required by the student’s university.

  5. Insurance: While in Taiwan, in addition to the mandatory student safety insurance set by the Ministry of Education, each student must be insured for accidental and necessary medical coverage. Insurance fees will be covered for the entire duration of the program.

  6. Book costs: Purchasing textbooks as required by the instructors shall be subject to the approval of the director of the student’s institute

7. Allowance:

(1). Undergraduate’s Program: Each student shall receive NT$12,000 per month during the period of the program as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student’s local bank account.


(2). Master’s Program: Each student shall receive NT$15,000 per month during the period of the program as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student’s local bank account.


(3). Ph.D. Program: Each student shall receive NT$17,000 per month during the period of the program as allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses. The sum will be deposited monthly into the student’s local bank account.


ELIGIBILITY


Applicants to the scholarship must satisfy the admission requirements of the partner university to which he or she has applied to study under a TaiwanICDF scholarship.


Applicants must be able to satisfy all requirements for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) set by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) set by the Ministry of the Interior, of the ROC (Taiwan) government (this means that the TaiwanICDF has the right to revoke a scholarship offered if an applicant cannot satisfy the visa requirements).



HOW TO APPLY

Applicants must complete an online application. Please go to TaiwanICDF Scholarship Online Application System to fill in your application (Application Dates: January 1 - March 15, 2023), and then submit a signed, printed copy along with all required application documents to the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/ Consulate General/ Representative Office stationed in your Country. Please note that each applicant can only apply for one program at a time.


In addition to the above documents requested as part of their scholarship application, applicants should also submit all documents required by the TaiwanICDF partner schools that they are applying to before the admissions deadline of that university. For detailed information on such documents, please refer to the 2023 TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Program Information.


The applicant also needs to submit a separate program application to his/her chosen universities. However, please be aware that receiving admission from the university does not necessarily mean that the applicant has also been given a TaiwanICDF scholarship. Only applicants who receive an acceptance letter issued by the TaiwanICDF will be recipients of the scholarship.


APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

Applicants should submit the documents listed below to the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/ Consulate General/ Representative Office in their country. Applicants must ensure that they submit accurate and complete documentation; failure to do so will result in the application not being processed. Please also note Late submissions will not be accepted and/or processed.


1. A photocopy of the applicant's passport or other document showing proof of nationality.

2. A photocopy of applicant’s highest-level diploma and academic transcripts.

3. Two letters of reference.

4. Any other documents specifically requested by an ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/ Consulate General/ Representative Office.


MANDARIN LANGUAGE TEST

Please note: Make sure you study through TaiwanICDF School Youtube Channel - Mandarin Course and complete the Online Mandarin Test. Your qualification during the second review may be affected if you have not completed the Online Mandarin Test.
