2022 Wageningen University Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP)

The Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP) offers talented and motivated students from Africa the unique opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at Wageningen University and to support capacity building in Africa.


Wageningen University & Research is a public university in Wageningen, Netherlands, specializing in technical and engineering subjects and an important center for life sciences and agricultural research. It is located in a region of the Netherlands known as the Food Valley.


Wageningen has been voted the number one university in the Netherlands for fifteen consecutive years. The university is listed number 59 in the world by the Times Higher Education Ranking and the world's best in agriculture and forestry by the QS World University Rankings 2016–2020. Wageningen University is ranked number one in the fields of plant/animal science, environment/ecology, and agricultural sciences by U.S. News & World Report. The university is widely regarded as the world's top agricultural research institution


Wageningen University & Research is a collaboration between Wageningen University and the Wageningen Research foundation.


Available scholarships: 10 Application deadline for MSc programme: 3 January 2022 Start MSc programme: 1 September 2022 or February 2023


Components of the scholarship:

  • Travel to and from Wageningen

  • Living allowance for the duration of the programme (24 months)

  • Tuition fee coverage for the duration of the programme (24 months)

  • Visa costs and costs for health insurance

  • A budget for one seminar in Europe (travel, stay, registration fee)

  • A budget for participation in the 'reach your full potential programme'


Requirements:

1. You are a citizen of an African country

2. You are an excellent student with a First class honours degree or a GPA of 80% or higher in a Bachelor degree

3. You have applied for one the master’s programmes of Wageningen University & Research before 3 January 2022.




How to Apply

If you meet the above eligibility requirements, you can apply for an MSc programme and, after being unconditionally admitted, we might invite you to participate in the Africa Scholarship Programme selection procedure.


Please note: If you do not meet one of the above eligibility requirements, you are not eligible for the Africa Scholarship Programme and you will not be invited for the selection procedure.



In the first half of March 2022, all African students who have been unconditionally admitted to an MSc programme at Wageningen University will be assessed with regard to the Africa Scholarship Programme.


A selected group of candidates will be invited by e-mail on 15 March 2022 to participate in the ASP selection procedure. Only candidates who will be invited for the ASP selection will receive an e-mail. It will be announced on the website (under step 5) when the invitations have been sent.


The first step of the selection procedure consists of an assignment for which the deadline will be 30 March 2022.


After a thorough assessment of all received assignments, a smaller selection of candidates will be invited for the second step of the selection procedure, which is a Skype interview with a part of the selection committee. The Skype interviews will take place between 18 April and 29 April 2022.


All selected candidates who have been invited to write an assignment will be informed on 11 April 2022 whether or not they will be invited for a Skype interview.
