Mo Ibrahim Fellowships 2020

The Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship Programme is a selective Fellowship that prepares the next generation of outstanding African leaders by providing them with unique work opportunities at the most senior level of prominent African institutions or multilateral organizations, whose mandate is to improve the economic and social prospects of Africa. The Fellowship allows talented individuals to increase and enhance their professional capacity, with the intention of contributing to the governance and development of their countries thereby creating a pipeline of future African leaders. The Mo Ibrahim Foundation (the “Foundation”), is financing the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship position in three host institutions, namely:

  1. African Development Bank (Côte D’Ivoire)

  2. International Trade Center (Switzerland) 

  3. United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (Ethiopia)


REQUIREMENTS

The Fellow must:

  1. be a national of an African country, residing anywhere in the world;

  2. Government officials, active military personnel and political party leaders are not eligible;

  3. age limit is forty (40) years for men and women and forty-five (45) years for women with children;

  4. hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Economics, Social Sciences, International Development, Business Administration, Finance, Law, Banking, Engineering 

  5. Have at least 7 (seven) years’ work experience


APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Interested candidates should complete the online form http://mo.ibrahim.foundation/fellowships/

  • Applicants must apply online by no later than 14 October 2019.

  • Applications will only be considered if they are submitted on line with a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) indicating date of birth, nationality, education and relevant experience.

  • Applicants must also attach copies of academic transcripts and three letters of recommendation.

MO IBRAHIM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

In addition to the Fellowship program, the foundation provides the Ibrahim Scholarships to support aspiring African leaders at a number of distinguished academic institutions. The scholarships develop the talent of outstanding young Africans in selected disciplines.


London Business School - The MIF scholarship for Africa supports outstanding students on a full-time MBA programme. Each year one scholarship, providing full payment of fees, is awarded to an exceptional African candidate with financial need. School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) - Scholarships are offered on Governance for Development in Africa Initiative, a programme which studies the socio-economic, political and legal links between governance and development. University of Birmingham - One MSc in Governance and State-Building per year is offered. This two-year programme includes a six-month internship at the Foundation Secretariat.
