YALE UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS FOR AFRICAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Deadline: 25 January 2024

Yale Young African Scholars Program (YYAS)

Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) is an academic enrichment and leadership program for secondary school students from all African countries (last year, students represented 39 different African countries!). Eligible students are 14-18 years old and in the international equivalent of U.S. Grade 11. In August, YYAS offers a virtual program as well as a residential program in Zimbabwe for students to learn about university admissions and financial aid processes, attend lectures taught by Yale University students, and receive career guidance from experts in their field. The online program is free for all admitted students, while the residential program includes a program fee to cover meals and operational expenses.

Yale Young Global Scholars Program (YYGS)

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is the most globally diverse academic enrichment program in the world, with students ages 16-17 participating from over 150 countries (including all 50 U.S. states). Taking place on Yale's campus in June & July 2023, the program emphasises an open, exploratory, and collaborative approach to learning with 2-week sessions in STEM, the social sciences, and humanities. YYGS also offers generous need-based financial aid packages equally to both domestic and international students; annually, we distribute over $3 million USD in financial aid.
