UNITED WORLD COLLEGES

Waterford Kamhlaba has announced the opening of applications for United World Colleges for 2021. This year, only 2020 Form 5 graduates are invited to apply. Students are encouraged to download the application form online on www.waterford.sz (or email tki.advisory@gmail.com to receive an electronic form), fill it out, and submit it via email with the requested documents to careers@waterford.sz by 5 March 2021. Due to the pandemic, only 50 students will be invited to write the entrance test based on the strength of their application form. The application fee of E300 will only apply to these 50 students. Shortlisted students applying for a scholarship may apply in advance of 5 March, for a waiver of the Entrance Test fee if they cannot afford it.

UWC is a global education movement made up of 18 colleges and schools on 4 continents worldwide, that makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. The UWC schools, colleges and programmes offer a transformational experience for young people, enabling them to discover the possibility of change through courageous action, personal example and selfless leadership, while pursuing a 2-year pre university academic program called the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). ELIGIBILITY

Students interested in UWC must be academic achievers. In addition, they should have:

  1. An intellectual curiosity and desire to learn

  2. Active commitment to reflection, question and confront one’s own values

  3. Social competence to work and collaborate with people from all backgrounds

  4. Resilience, personal responsibility and integrity so that they are able to take care of themselves physically and emotionally while going through the challenging UWC program

  5. Motivation to contribute to UWC values of peace and a sustainable future
