The India Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR - www.iccr.gov.in) has announced 100 scholarships in the ICCR Scholarship Scheme for Indian Culture (A1209) at Indian universities / institutes for the academic year 2021 - 2022. This scholarship scheme was known until the last academic year as the “Scholarship Scheme for Dance and Music”. Now the scheme encompasses wider facets of Indian culture, not just limited to dance and music, but to performing art, theatre, culture, Indian cuisine, etc. Applications are by online through the ICCR A2A’s Scholarship Portal: http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in. Following is the timeline for the scheme in 2021 / 2022:
15 March Open ICCR A2A Portal for admission
30 April Last date of application to be submitted by students
25 June Last date for universities to inform decision
5 July Last date of allocating scholarships and university, and generating an offer letter by Indian mission abroad
12 July Last date of acceptance by students
19 July Based of number of acceptances in the first round, Indian mission to offer scholarships to other students who were not accepted in the first round
25 July Second round students to convey their acceptances

Highlights of the admission process
Applicants must be above 18 and below 30
Applications for admission are done directly with universities
Applicants have the option to apply to 5 universities/ institute of their preference
A 500 word essay in english to ascertain english proficiency. Students can also submit their TOEFL / IELTS or other standardised test scores. Dep[ending on the institute, students may have to submit additional documents .Evidence of knowledge in the specialised field of dance,music, theatre,art, etc. applicants must go through the institutes website carefully for such requirements
As part of the Government of India’s guidelines on direct payment to beneficiaries, scholarship payment to students will be through PFMS
Return economy airfare to the nearest airport and 3rd AC train fare to the place of study, if required.
All ICCR scholarship students javbe to obtain medical insurance coverage on their own for a minimum assured sum of NR 500,000/- which us equivalent to USD 6,800 per annum before their travel to India
Students are advised to visit the university or institute website and go though research of the course offered, eligibility criteria, and general information before applying for admission
