Scholarship for Tech Programs with African Leadership University’s ALX Program

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS


  1. Intro to Software Engineering

    • Basic proficiency in Web Technologies.

    • How to build a basic, functional web application.

    • You will engage in a series of projects and tasks that will allow you to apply your learning and build practical software engineering skills.


  1. Software Engineering Plus

    • Problem-solve using coding and other forms of technology

    • Develop design systems and gather information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces

    • Model a system or application to help developers write the code they needed to complete their tasks

    • Calculate, recommend, and plan computer specifications, layouts, and peripheral equipment modifications through analysis and recommendation

    • Analyse system capabilities and requirements by storing, retrieving, and manipulating data

    • Key professional competencies such as project management, critical thinking, creative problem solving, interview techniques, communication, and collaboration skills


  1. Data Analytics

    • An introduction to data analysis and data structures.

    • To analyse data and build statistical models for practical, real-world scenarios.

    • Logic, design thinking and problem-solving.

    • How to prepare and build dashboards to communicate findings with purpose.


  1. AWS Cloud Computing

    • Understanding of how software and hardware systems bring business visions to life.

    • Navigating the architecting and deployment of applications within AWS platforms.

    • Developing plans for the adoption of cloud solutions.

    • Management and monitoring of cloud platforms.


  1. Salesforce Administrator

    • Understand how to navigate and change the user interface of Salesforce.

    • Configure and make an invoicing application on the platform.

    • Process automation, security & reporting functionality within Salesforce.

    • Understanding the different types of clouds: Service Cloud, Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud.

    • Data management and setup navigation.



SCHOLARSHIP

ALX’s partnerships allow them to offer eligible candidates access to world-class training with all programme costs waived. For all successfully accepted learners, ALX will charge a one-time administration fee to confirm enrollment into the programme. However, there are self-funded placements available, especially for students who are above the age limit required for a scholarship, or for professionals looking to transition into tech.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 6 months, 30-40 hours/week

  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer

  • Access to a stable internet connection

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

  • Between 18-34 years of age

  • Of African origin


SELECTION

The ALX Selection Process is a two-step online process. First applicants will be required to complete a registration form which will take a few minutes to complete. Once this has been submitted, applicants will be directed to our online application platform. The application will take approximately 90 mins to complete and consists of three sections; including an English proficiency test. Applicants will also receive access to the online application via email. Your link to the application is personal and therefore cannot be shared.
